A Bit About Me
My name is Maria Rogers. I have been teaching school for 27 years. My teaching experience includes teaching Freshman Composition courses at NCSU, teaching 6th - 8th grade Language Arts, and teaching 9th and 12th grade English classes. I have worked in public schools in Raleigh as well as Charlotte.
I earned my B.A. in English at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and my M.A. in English at North Carolina State University. In addition, I earned National Board Certification in 1998 and my re-certification in 2008.
I am married and have two children, both of whom graduated from Butler High School. My son, a collegiate gymnast, competed for and graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. My daughter, a 2014 Butler graduate, is currently attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and plans to major in Business.
My husband and I love traveling (especially with our children). We particularly like when our travels take us to places where we can snorkel and Scuba Dive. During this past summer, he and I traveled to Mexico where we had the opportunity to snorkel with whale sharks. It was one item on my "bucket list", and it was thrilling!
